Skateboard Deck MCP Server: Design a Deck from Your AI Chat
Skateboard Personalizado has a public MCP server at https://skateboardpersonalizado.com/api/mcp. Add it to an AI client that supports remote MCP servers and your assistant can lay out a design on a real skateboard deck and hand you a link to see it in 3D, change it and order it. Connecting it is free and needs no account, API key or sign-in. Along with the link, the server sends back a picture of the deck assembled in 3D, with trucks and wheels, so you see the finished skate before you open anything. Ordering and paying stay with you, on the website.
What it does, and what it doesn't
| It does | It doesn't |
|---|---|
Tell your assistant the deck's shape, the file formats and the current price (get_deck_spec) | Place orders, fill in the checkout or take payments |
Take the artwork your assistant makes, fit it to the deck's real shape and save it with a link (create_deck) | Ask for an account, an API key or a sign-in |
| Send back a picture of the deck assembled in 3D, with trucks and wheels | Publish the design in the gallery |
| Warn when the image is too small to print sharply or gets cropped | See your conversation: only the design your assistant sends |
How to connect it
The address is the same everywhere: https://skateboardpersonalizado.com/api/mcp, over Streamable HTTP, with no authentication. We've tested the connection with Claude Code; the steps for the other clients follow their own documentation as of October 2026, and menus move, so if a label has changed, look for "custom connector", "MCP server" or "add server".
Claude (web, desktop and mobile)
Open Customize › Connectors, choose Add › Add custom connector, give it a name such as "Skateboard", paste the address and continue. Under authentication pick No sign in, then Add. In a chat, switch it on from the + menu under Connectors. Anthropic offers custom connectors on every plan, the free one included (limited to one), and on Team and Enterprise only an owner can add them. Add it on the web or in the desktop app; after that it's available in the mobile app as well.
Claude Code
claude mcp add --transport http skateboard \
https://skateboardpersonalizado.com/api/mcpChatGPT
On the web, turn on Developer mode in Settings › Security and login, go to chatgpt.com/plugins, press +, give it a name and paste the address. In a chat, pick it from the + menu. ChatGPT asks you to confirm before create_deck runs, because it creates something. One warning: OpenAI's own pages disagree about which plans can run tools that create things — the developer guide lists Plus and Pro, the help centre only Business, Enterprise and Edu. If ChatGPT lists the tools but won't run create_deck, that's the reason, and the upload page does the same job.
Cursor
Add it to ~/.cursor/mcp.json (or .cursor/mcp.json in a project) and restart Cursor:
{
"mcpServers": {
"skateboard": {
"url": "https://skateboardpersonalizado.com/api/mcp"
}
}
}VS Code with Copilot
Run MCP: Add Server from the Command Palette and give it the address, or add this to .vscode/mcp.json, then use it from Copilot Chat in agent mode:
{
"servers": {
"skateboard": {
"type": "http",
"url": "https://skateboardpersonalizado.com/api/mcp"
}
}
}Codex CLI
In ~/.codex/config.toml:
[mcp_servers.skateboard]
url = "https://skateboardpersonalizado.com/api/mcp"And Gemini?
The Gemini app only lets you connect your own MCP apps in the United States, if you're 18 or over, and in English, so from the EU it isn't an option. With Gemini, generate the image, download it and upload it on the AI design page.
Any other client that accepts a remote MCP server by URL connects the same way.
What to ask your assistant
Describe the deck, say what goes on it and ask for the link at the end. For example:
Design a skateboard deck for my brother Leo: dark green background, a big white moon near the top and his name in large letters along the middle. Check get_deck_spec first, keep the name away from the ends, and give me the link to review it before buying.
- Ask for everything at once. Each call creates a new design with its own link, so "make the moon bigger" gives you a second deck, not an edited one.
- Keep names and faces in the middle. The nose and tail curve up and the outline rounds the ends; the assistant gets this from
get_deck_spec, but it doesn't hurt to say it. - Give it your colours. Hex codes, a team's colours, the ones in your living room: the composition uses exact colours.
Images, compositions and the upload page
create_deck accepts either an image file or a composition: rectangles, circles and lines of text in three display fonts, which our server draws at full resolution. In a chat app the composition is what normally gets sent. To hand an image to a tool, most clients would make the assistant write the entire file out as text, which isn't realistic for a picture big enough to print — so don't expect an image generated in the chat to travel through MCP.
If you already have the image — from ChatGPT, Gemini, Midjourney or anywhere else — download the original and upload it on the AI design page. You get the same kind of link. How to put AI art on a real deck covers what the file needs, and AI prompts for deck art how to get a deck-shaped one.
Agents that work with files on your computer, like Claude Code or Codex, can upload the file directly:
curl --fail-with-body \
https://skateboardpersonalizado.com/api/agent-designs/import \
-F image=@artwork.png -F fit=contain -F locale=enFormats, limits and a full composition example are in the technical guide.
What you get back
In the chat, the result carries a picture of the deck assembled in 3D with trucks and wheels, and the assistant is told to show it to you. The trucks and wheels are there to give you the idea: they're sold separately and arrive unassembled.
The link opens on that same assembled skate, with Rotate in 3D to turn it, Flat design to see the artwork on the deck's outline, and notes beside the buttons if the image was small or cropped. Customise this design opens it in the editor as one image layer you can move, scale and add text or photos to — the letters of a composition are part of that image, so they aren't edited one by one. Order a deck takes you through the usual steps: width, extras, address and payment. A deck is 89 €, shipping included in Spain, or from 15 € to 25 € more per order to the rest of the EU, depending on the country.
Privacy and limits
- Links are unlisted, not private. They don't appear in the gallery or in search engines, but anyone you send one to can see the deck and open a copy in the editor.
- Designs are kept. The server has no tool to delete them.
- It's rate-limited. A few designs an hour per connection is plenty for a person; if you hit the limit, wait and try again rather than letting the assistant retry in a loop.
Frequently asked questions
What is an MCP server?
MCP, the Model Context Protocol, is the standard way AI assistants connect to outside tools. Connecting ours gives your assistant two tools: get_deck_spec, to read the deck's shape and current price, and create_deck, to save a design on a deck and get a link.
What does my assistant get back from the server?
A link to your deck and a picture of it assembled in 3D with trucks and wheels, to show you in the chat. The trucks and wheels are there to give you the idea: they're sold separately and arrive unassembled.
Is the skateboard MCP server free?
Yes. Connecting it and creating designs costs nothing and needs no account or API key. You only pay if you order a deck: 89 €, shipping included in Spain.
Does it work with ChatGPT?
Through developer mode on the ChatGPT website. OpenAI's pages disagree about which plans can run tools that create something, like create_deck: the developer guide lists Plus and Pro, the help centre only Business, Enterprise and Edu. If it doesn't run, upload the image on the AI design page instead.
Can my assistant send an image it generated in the chat?
Usually not. To pass an image to a tool, most clients would make the assistant write the whole file out as text, which isn't realistic at print size. Through MCP the assistant normally sends a composition of shapes and text; an image you already have is uploaded on the AI design page.
Can the assistant order or pay for the deck?
No. The server has no tools for orders or payments. It saves a design and returns a link; ordering, with the width, the extras, the address and the payment, is done by you on the website.
Who can see a design my assistant creates?
Anyone with its link. Links are unlisted, so they don't appear in the gallery or in search engines, but they aren't private, and the server keeps the designs.
Connect it, or upload directly
The AI design page has the server address with a copy button, and an upload form for the image you already have. Designing is free; a deck is 89 € if you order one.
